Welcome to the
Transhumanist Laboratories of London 2100
Scenario:
We are currently writing the year 2100. Since the generations of the early 21st century were too preoccupied with affording Jeff Bezos another super-yacht to care much about trivial things like the warnings of the IPCC and global climate breakdown, the world succumbed to a +4°C climate disaster. Unfarmable land, shortages in freshwater supply, unprecedented environmental catastrophes, - all this has become the new norm, making life an ongoing struggle for survival.
But resilient as humans are, the people of 2100 fight tooth and nail against societal collapse through means previously perceived as unimaginable: the artificial engineering of the human body itself.
Here at the Transhumanist Laboratories of London, we take on the huge responsibility of matching each citizen with their corresponding body modification; be it genetic engineering, prostheses or modification through nanomedicine.
"
What used to be the business of a few backyard scientists in 2022 has now become the new basis that the human species relies on for survival. Struggle with water scarcity? You might want to try some of our camel DNA 37DN Anthrocamae® to restructure the efficiency of your body. No availability of digestible food? Our very own GIT NanoRuminant® will unleash the wonders of nanotechnology to transform your guts to the likes of Ruminant like sheep, allowing you to round out your diet with things like grass, bark and leaves!
And the best thing: since our services are covered by the NHS, there is no need to worry about the procedural costs once the AI waiting list automation determines it is your turn for treatment!

The Transhumanist Laboratories of London 2100 proudly present their
service & medication catalogue:
Here at TLL, we focus on developing transhumanist medical solutions to the current environmental impacts that the unmitigated climate crisis has on your body. Through transcending the physical boundaries of human existence, we allow you and your body to become more adaptable and resistant to lessen your struggles and ensure you are still able to lead a life worth living. For this, we take great inspiration from already existing solutions within our natural environment and develop ways how to incorporate these into your body.
Our highly skilled medical personnel will gladly assist you in identifying what medication is right for your individual case and ensure appropriate usage and crossover effects with previous modifications will be discussed in detail. 37DN Anthrocamae rapid is a drug that changes the genetic composition of your body and its shape through CRISPR Cas9, based on the advantageous genome code of camels. It was developed in direct response to the high heat levels and increased water scarcity of a climate change scenario amounting to a +4 C increase in global temperature by 2100.
As the developer of 37 DN AnthroCamae Rapid ®, TLL takes inspiration from the contemporary state of CRISPR Cas9 based gene editing and biohacking and introduces it as a potential transhumanist solution to one of the many challenges of an unmitigated climate crisis scenario.
To find out more about the expected changes to your body and behaviour as well as potential risks and crossover effects, download the 37DN AnthroCamae Rapid® INSTRUCTION MANUAL.
GIT NanoRuminant presented by TLL
TLL's GIT NanoRuminant® is a drug that changes the composition of your organs and their shape through bionanotechnology, based on the advantageous anatomy of ruminants like cattle and sheep. It was developed in direct response to the food scarcity and increase in malnourishment of a climate change scenario amounting to a +4 C increase in global temperature by 2100.
GIT NanoRuminant® takes inspiration from the contemporary state of nanobot based medicine and organ cultivating and introduces it as a potential transhumanist solution to one of the many challenges of an unmitigated climate crisis scenario.
To find out more about the expected changes to your body and behaviour as well as potential risks and crossover effects, download the GIT NanoRuminant® INSTRUCTION MANUAL.

Ventalgan Forte® is a microalgae-based mouthwash that has been genetically modified through CRISPR cas9 agents. It was developed in direct response to the low oxygen levels of a climate change scenario amounting to a +4 C increase in global temperature by 2100.
Since Ventalgan Forte® does not directly modify your DNA, but instead uses algae for a symbiotic effect, it is used as a substitute to the NITRO Haler and well suited for the usage as a homoeo-pathic medication. This makes it especially popular amongst both heavily modified users and those seeking holistic treatment.

The Transhumanist Laboratories of London 2100 proudly present
the projects' rationale and research
Framework:
TLL was on display on 14.06.2021 in Elephant & Castle, London. During the exhibition, designer and researcher Lucille Hein roleplayed as a transhumanist pharmacist that matched participants with one of four possible medications depending on the symptoms they entered into the pre-designed questionnaire.
Through this, TLL tells a story about the very real risks of the climate crisis and begs the question: If we know and engage with the idea that our current trajectory features a 100% chance of these environmental factors to exist in 2100, what actions will we take in the here and now? How do we react to the idea of potentially having to modify our very physical shape and reality just to be able to exist due to the inaction of previous generations?
The transhumanist medicine is produced as a physical giveaway, containing fake medicine (like orange juice or seed bombs in pill shape), a leaflet with additional information about the risks and benefits of the medicine and the project, and a compelling cardboard box. Participants get to take their prototypes home, which will act as reminders of the exhibition and the reality of a potential climate breakdown.
To learn more about how the TLL project was created and the design process you may download the process documentation of the project.
About the data used and research comitted:
TLL makes use of two different fields of research - future climate scenarios and biohacking - and combines them to ask people of the present questions about human behaviour and identity as well as perspectives on the adaptability of the species as a whole.
For this, the climate scenario aspect makes use of a variety of scientific data, such as most reports of the IPCC published within the last decade, but also statistics and papers from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact research. Their work, which follows the RCP 8.5 trajectory, estimates the chance of a +4°C increase in global temperature by 2100 as above 40% certain if current emission levels are kept, and even states a 10% probability of reaching this state by 2080 already.
The research on biohacking on the other hand looks at currently existing technology such as CRISPR Cas9 gene editing, prosthesis and nanotechnology. These are then paired with the praxis of current individual experimenters, but also scientific studies such as recent results by Stanford researchers, in which they created bioluminescent or "glow in the dark" mice.
The link between climate change and biohacking as well as the future availability of body modification however currently remains entirely speculative and is conducted on the part of the researcher Lucille Hein.
In designing the prototypes, performance and storylines for the TLL medication, Lucille Hein took inspiration from a previously conducted co-design workshop with the german creative collective DER SALON. The other design methods and frameworks used in this project focus largely on speculative design.
